From the Bid Phase on, the Games were seen as a being a powerful vehicle to effect positive change, even beyond Whistler's boundaries.  We recognized the community's vision and journey towards sustainability could be accelerated by using Whistler2020 as the foundation for Games planning.  At the same time, the Games provided Whistler with an opportunity to showcase itself as a global leader in advancing sustainability initiatives.
