Funding Provided by the Resort Municipality of Whistler

The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) provides annual funding through community enrichment grants and fee for service agreements to Whistler non-profit organizations and societies.

These grants and agreements are important tools that assist the RMOW to work towards key strategy areas in the community’s Whistler2020 integrated sustainability plan and vision.
 

Community Enrichment Grant Program

Each year, RMOW council awards financial grants to local non-profit organizations or societies that benefit the resort community. To qualify for the grants, applicants must operate in one of the following categories: environment, social services, community service, recreation & sport, and arts & culture.

Fee For Service Agreements

The municipality provides annual funding to non-profit organizations that provide services to the resort community consistent with Whistler2020 priorities. Fee for Service Agreements provide funding to organizations that offer a service that a municipality would normally provide.

Resort Municipality Initiative

Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI) funding from the Province of British Columbia is a significant revenue source for eligible resort municipalities and has allowed Whistler to invest in many important programs and services to support tourism since it was implemented in 2006.

Strategic Community Investment Funds

The RMOW receives grant money from the Province of BC through the Strategic Community Investment Funds agreement, which includes Small Community Grants and the Traffic Fine Revenue Sharing Program.
