Whistler offers free residential recycling services at two recycling, garbage, and composting depots:
1. 8001 Nester's Road (north end of Whistler)
2. Function Junction (south end of Whistler)

Accepted items include:
  • Newsprint
  • Mixed paper
  • Clean cardboard
  • Plastics #1 - 7
  • Plastic bags
  • Tin
  • Aluminum
  • Glass
  • Car batteries
Arecyclingll recyclable items must be sorted. Containers should be rinsed and flattened and have lids removed before recycling.
 

Carney's Waste Systems is responsible for operating the residential recycling, garbage, and composting depots on behalf of the Resort Municipality of Whistler, as well as the municipal Composting Facility and Waste Transfer Station, and private commercial waste collection services. Visit Carney's website for more information.

British Columbia has a free recycling and pollution prevention information hotline sponsored by the Recycling Council of BC. Phone 1-800-667-4321 (toll-free) to find out where to recycle less common products and packaging.
 
Other recycling
ReUse-It Centre
Whistler's ReUse-It Centre accepts used items that are clean, in good shape, and in good working order. All proceeds support Whistler Community Services Society programs.
 
The Re-Use-It Centre is located in Function Junction at 1003 Lynham Road and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Re-Build-It Centre
The Re-Build-It Centre provides online sales of used building materials.
 
The Whistler Community Services Society, supported by a partnership with the Canadian Home Builders' Association-Sea to Sky, identifies used building products that are in good shape and slated for demolition or renovation.  These goods can be viewed and purchased through the website.
 
All sales support Whistler Community Services Society programs, and support Whistler's commitment to reduce landfill waste.

Household hazardous wastes
Household hazardous wastes can be delivered to the product care centre at Carney's Recycling headquarters at 38950 Queensway in Squamish.
 
Motor oil
Used motor oil (non-commercial only) can be returned to Barney's Automotive: 8021 Mons Road in Whistler. Phone 604-932-3199 for more information.
 
Paint
Unused paint (non-commercial only) can be returned to the Whistler Waste Transfer Station.

Bottle Depot
Located at 8001 Nesters Road (in the north end of Whistler), the bottle depot provides deposit refunds on wine and other beverage containers.
 
Hours of operation are Friday through Monday, noon to 4 p.m. for residential drop off.
