Callaghan Winter Sports Club Biathlon Series

February 4, 2012 - 11:30am - 2:30pm
Venue:
Whistler Olympic Park

The Callaghan Winter Sports Club is pleased to announce the return of its popular series of recreational biathlon events! From beginners to experts, the CWSC Biathlon Series is a great way to experience the sport of biathlon and to test your skiing and shooting skills in a fun environment!

Dates
This year we will be hosting four recreational biathlon events. The dates of the events are December 31, January 15, February 4 and March 4.

Event Format
The format of these events is similar to a Sprint competition. Each participant will ski three loops of a course, with two shooting bouts in between the loops. All participants will shoot in the prone (lying down) position for both shooting bouts. Participants do not have to carry the Biathlon rifles; the rifles will remain on the range at all times.

Biathlon rifles, ammunition and shooting rests are all provided by the CWSC. All participants must have a trail pass, and must bring their own ski equipment. Passes and rentals are available through Whistler Olympic Park.

Who Can Participate

These events are open to all members of the public, ages 8 and up.

No previous biathlon or firearms experience is required. Participants will receive rifle safety and target shooting instruction from CWSC coaches and an opportunity to practice before taking part in the events.

Race Categories
There are three different race categories to choose from:

•3x500m Cruiser
•3x900m Challenge
•3x2km Quest
Cost

Cost per event: $20 for CWSC Members, $25 for non-CWSC Members.

CWSC Members enrolled in our Biathlon Bears or Masters Biathlon programs get free entry to two of these events.
