Fire Prevention Week: Protect your Family from Fire

October 9, 2011 - 12:01pm - October 15, 2011 - 11:59am

Fire Prevention Week is October 9-15, 2011. This year’s theme “Protect your Family from Fire” focuses on keeping you, your family, and your community safer from fire.

Building on the theme in 2010, which stressed the importance of smoke alarms and educating the public on installing, maintaining and testing smoke alarms, this year’s theme focuses on how to plan and practice escaping from a residence, should a fire occur.

Whistler Fire Rescue Service will again work with the school children of Whistler to help them understand fire safety and to share this message with their parents.

A variety of activities will occur around Fire Prevention Week, ranging from ever popular Open Houses at our Fire Halls, to the school programs highlighted by the “Fire Chief for a Day” contest and opportunities in the Village to interact with firefighters and get your safety questions answered.
