The SmartPark device uses a SmartCard that is loaded with a prepaid number of parking hours. The SmartCard is inserted into the SmartPark meter, which is then placed inside the vehicle and displays the parking zone selected.
In-car SmartPark meters charge $1 for the first hour, $1 for the second hour, and $2 for the third hour at all locations except the busloop and in front of the North Shore Credit Union Building. If you return to your car before the allotted time is up, the SmartPark meter will credit your SmartCard, right down to the second. In-car meters are limited to a maximum of three hours.
With the Smart Park program, you will be given an extra 15-minute grace period, if you`re running late.
SmartPark meters and SmartCards are available from the Municipal Hall Bylaw Services Office. Remember, pay parking regulations are in effect from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.
The municipality manages parking for the following areas: Day Lots 1, 2, and 3 (effective June 28, 2010), Whistler Conference Centre (surface level and underground), the Whistler Public Library, Main Street, Municipal Hall and all other on-street parking.
