Motor boating is only permitted on Green Lake in Whistler.

The municipality reminds all boaters of the regulations for Green Lake. To aid in the identification of the regulatory speed restrictions there are four new buoys, white in color, which bear the words NO WAKE ZONE. A maximum of 10 km/hour is permitted in the no wake zone (although slower speeds are recommended) which commences from the boat launch, stretching southeast along the front of the Green Lake properties / Parkhurst, until you reach the new on-shore RED-YELLOW-GREEN markers.

There are two sets of the new on-shore red, yellow and green markers. They are located on the west and east sides of the lake and represent the beginning and end of the no wake zone for the north half of Green Lake. The colors were chosen to represent that of traffic lights, where RED represents STOP (no wake), and GREEN represents GO (wake allowed), with YELLOW being the transition between the two. Towing and water-skiing are only permitted after passing the Green markers. A new sign at the public boat launch has also been erected to clarify the regulations for all boaters using Green Lake.

Please remember to always boat safely. Green Lake has a large population of non-motorized watercraft, which have the right-of-way at all times. Floatplanes have also been given the right-of-way to land on Green Lake. Please report all boaters who are not complying with the regulations to the RCMP at 604-932-3044.
