Hydrant Use Permits

The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) permits use of water from fire hydrants, but only in accordance with Section 9.4 of the Fire Protection and Fireworks Bylaw No 1956,2010, in order to protect all water system users.

Those wishing to use hydrant water must obtain a permit from the utilities department.   The required deposit and fee covers the rental of the special backflow prevention device which must be used when withdrawing water from any hydrant.
