Commercial Parking
A commercial vehicle may park for a maximum of thirty (30) minutes in an area designated as a municipal “loading zone” in Whistler, while the operator of the vehicle is loading or unloading materials, provided that the vehicle is moved immediately at the request of a Bylaw Enforcement Officer or a Parking Enforcement Officer.
A commercial parking decal, available from the Resort Municipality of Whistler, must be displayed at all times on the windshield of commercial vehicles that are not licenced under the Commercial Transport Act.
Commercial vehicle decal
The Resort Municipality of Whistler issues commercial vehicle decals for vehicles, which are not identified as such under the Commercial Transport Act.
To apply for a commercial vehicle decal, visit the Whistler Municipal Hall-Bylaw Services Office with:
- Proof of a valid commercial use vehicle insurance policy
- Proof of a valid municipal business licence
- $30 processing fee
For more information, phone 604-935-8249 or email businesslicences@whistler.ca.
NOTE: The commercial vehicle decal is valid for municipal loading zones only, not private loading zones.
Commercial vehicle definition
A commercial vehicle is defined in Whistler’s Parking and Traffic Bylaw No. 1512, 2001 as:
- Every vehicle defined as a commercial vehicle in Section 1 of the Commercial Transport Act;
- Every vehicle used for the collection, delivery or transportation of goods or passengers in the course of a business; and
- Every tradesman’s vehicle and every other vehicle which displays a commercial parking decal issued under this bylaw.
Commercial bus parking
Traditionally, commercial busses have been allowed to park in Day Lots 4 and 5. With the recent implementation of user pay parking in Lots 1, 2, and 3, there has been increased demand by resort guests and employees for parking in Lots 4 and 5. For this reason,commercial bus drivers are requested to park in Lot 6, located five minutes from the Day Lots at Base II on Blackcomb Mountain.
To access Lot 6, follow Blackcomb Way south, turn right on Glacier Drive, and continue to Base II. Whistler Blackcomb will allow commercial bus drivers to access washroom and shower facilities at Base II, and there is regular transit service (Route 77- Staff Housing Loop) to Whistler Village (Gondola Exchange) from the adjacent staff housing stop.
