Improvements to the Meadow Park Sports Centre fitness centre are underway, including expansion of the cardio room and the addition of a stretching room.
The west rooftop patio area beside the existing cardio room will be enclosed to add approximately 138 square meters (1485 square feet) of usable space with:
- expanded fitness centre cardio room space;
- increased equipment access and availability;
- a new dedicated stretching room for the public to use.
The fitness expansion project is now complete and open for everyone to enjoy the new cardio room and stretching space. The project was delivered ahead of schedule, within approved budget allowing for some additional features such as the new water fountain and automatic window coverings to be complete in the project scope.
Please visit the Fitness Centre Facility page for more information.
A donation of $400,000 from the Community Foundation of Whistler’s (CFOW) Emerald Foundation supported the cardio room expansion and stretching room addition. This contribution makes it possible to realize the long-held plans to expand indoor fitness space onto the second floor west facing outer deck. The expansion project was awarded to TM Builders by Council at the June 11 Regular Council meeting.
Work is scheduled to take place from June 2019 to April 2020.
Construction noise should be expected during business hours (approximately Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) during the project. All services will remain open, including the cardio room and surrounding areas.
