Improvements to the Meadow Park Sports Centre fitness centre are underway, including expansion of the cardio room and the addition of a stretching room.
The west rooftop patio area beside the existing cardio room will be enclosed to add approximately 138 square meters (1485 square feet) of usable space with:
- expanded fitness centre cardio room space;
- increased equipment access and availability;
- a new dedicated stretching room for the public to use.
As of November 25, 2019, the structure is complete and the space is beginning to take shape. The exterior walls are being insulated and prepared for siding installation. The interior electrical and mechanical systems are nearing completion. Window installation is expected in a few weeks.
A donation of $400,000 from the Community Foundation of Whistler’s (CFOW) Emerald Foundation supported the cardio room expansion and stretching room addition. This contribution makes it possible to realize the long-held plans to expand indoor fitness space onto the second floor west facing outer deck. The expansion project was awarded to TM Builders by Council at the June 11 Regular Council meeting.
Work is scheduled to take place from June 2019 to April 2020.
Construction noise should be expected during business hours (approximately Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) during the project. All services will remain open, including the cardio room and surrounding areas.
