Notice of Intention to Issue a Development Variance Permit. Application No. DVP01232

The Council of the Resort Municipality will consider a resolution to issue a Development Variance Permit under s. 498 of the Local Government Act at its regular meeting to be held at:

Time:             5:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2024

Location:        Franz Wilhelmsen Theatre at Maury Young Arts Centre, 4335 Blackcomb Way, Whistler, B.C.

The land that is the subject of the Permit is legally described as: PID: 008-896-267 LOT 14 BLOCK D DISTRICT LOT 3625 PLAN 12376, as shown on the map attached to this notice.

The purpose of the Permit is to vary Whistler’s Zoning and Parking Bylaw 303, 2015 to vary:

  • the front setback from 7.6 metres to 0 metres for an attached parking platform/deck located at 0 metres from the front parcel line, and below grade portions of the detached dwelling (storage and mud room) at 2.10 metres from the front parcel line,
  • the front setback from 7.6 metres to 0.88 metres for access stairs and associated foundations,
  • the parking setback from 1.5 metres to 0 metres for three parking spaces,
  • the length of three uncovered parking spaces from 6.1 metres to 5 metres and the width of three uncovered parking spaces from 3 metres to 2.4 metres, and
  • the (south) side setback from 3 metres to 2.07 metres for an auxiliary building (shed).

Without the proposed variances, a building or structure with foundations cannot be sited closer than 7.6 metres from a front parcel boundary, an auxiliary building cannot be sited closer than 3 metres from a side parcel boundary, parking spaces cannot be sited closer than 1.5 metres from a front parcel boundary, and uncovered parking spaces are required to be 6.1 metres in length and 3 metres in width.

Copies of the Development Variance Permit, along with the permit application and supporting documentation, may be viewed electronically on the Resort Municipality of Whistler’s website at the following link: www.whistler.ca/DVP01232. Alternatively, copies of the Development Variance Permit, permit application and supporting documentation may also be inspected at the Reception Desk of Municipal Hall at 4325 Blackcomb Way, Whistler, BC, during regular office hours (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding statutory holidays) until February 20, 2024.

Written comments received by February 06, 2024 will be included in the Council package and published on February 16, 2024. Any written comments submitted after February 06, 2024 but no later than February 19, 2024 at 5:00 pm will be distributed to Council in the late correspondence package on February 20, 2024.
