Are you up for the challenge?
SWITCH: 1 x Private passenger vehicle trip per week
FOR: A lower carbon transportation choice – walk, take transit, bike or carpool.
Emissions from private passenger vehicle trips within Whistler make up most of Whistler’s carbon footprint – 57 percent!
If every registered vehicle owner made just one less trip by car every week from May 1 to October 1, this would cut 600 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.
For those who like to get competitive, Bike to Work and School Week is May 27-31 and the Commuter Challenge is June 2 to 8. Individuals or workplaces can register at biketowork.ca and commuterchallengebc.ca for the chance to win prizes such as helmets, bike locks, a Ziptrek package or a grand trip to Italy to cycle in the Prosecco Hills.
