Our Wildfire Perspectives

Artists and publishers Amory Abbott and Liz Toohey-Wiese will discuss their book ‘Fire Season’, a curated collection of visual art, poetry, writing, and essays on wildfires. The work will be used to highlight how creativity can help prompt discussions which generate understanding and contextualize the increasing prevalence of wildfire, its impact on our lives and what we can all do about it.

RMOW experts Luisa Burhenne (Climate & Environment Manager), Scott Rogers (FireSmart Coordinator), Deputy Fire Chief Mitch Hunter, and Councillor Arthur de Jong will join the artists on a panel following their visual presentation. The discussion will explore loss, new growth, changing landscapes and the impact/influence of wildfire on each panelists’ work.
