Media Release from the Conservation Officer Service
The Conservation Officer Service is currently investigating reports related to the unlawful feeding of bears in the Kadenwood neighbourhood of Whistler.
The Conservation Officer Service has received information related to bears approaching people, and creating property damage in Kadenwood.
Information received, suggests that the bear feeding has occurred over a number of years, contributing to the domestication like behaviour of several bears.
Feeding bears is a serious offence under the Wildlife Act, that can be detrimental for the bear, as well as the safety of the public.
The Conservation Officer Service is seeking the public’s assistance with information related to this offence.

Rewards up to, totalling $4000 may be given for information, leading to the successful conviction by the following organizations: Pemberton Wildlife Association and the BC Wildlife Federation.
