Thirty-three tribute events will rekindle magic of the Games
Whistler is inviting everyone who experienced the magic of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, along with everyone excited by this landmark moment in Whistler’s history, to join in its 10th anniversary celebrations.
The celebrations will take place during February and March and will include dozens of events at the Whistler Public Library, Whistler Olympic Plaza and other locations throughout Whistler Village. The hub will be Whistler Public Library, which was Canada Whistler Olympic House and Paralympic House during the 2010 Games.
“From February 12 to 28 and March 12 to 21, Whistler Village be filled with a steady hum of excitement as we remember the incredible 2010 Winter Games when history was made and the world came to our doorstep,” said Whistler Mayor Jack Crompton. “It was a remarkable time that helped set Whistler on the path to become what it is today. I look forward to wearing my red mittens, blue jacket and other special mementos and reliving the magic with the community and resort guests.”
2010 Games organizers, volunteers, torchbearers, athletes who competed and those who were inspired, enthusiastic spectators, and everyone else in Whistler is invited to attend the tribute celebrations and share their memories.
All-ages programming
The 2010 Games Anniversary festivities will kick off Wednesday, February 12 at noon with Cake & Quatchi at the Whistler Public Library. Enjoy cake, hot chocolate and a chance to get a photo with the larger-than-life Sasquatch who was one of the official mascots of the 2010 Games.
A Breakfast of Champions will take place on Friday, February 14, where community members and guests are invited to eat like an Olympian at a free pancake breakfast.
On Wednesday, February 19, everyone involved in making the 2010 Olympics a success is invited to the 2010 Reunion @ Family Après at Whistler Olympic Plaza. Volunteers, torchbearers, staff and athletes are encouraged to wear their blue jackets and other Olympic memorabilia for the reunion party.
Games-time volunteers will also get a special tribute at the Whistler Museum & Archives on Friday, February 28 during the Building the Spirit: Whistler’s Volunteers of the 2010 Games event. The evening will feature stories, artifacts and a chance for everyone to record and share their experiences.
Those involved in the Paralympics are invited to the 2010 Paralympic Reunion @ Family Après on Monday, March 16. Blue jackets are encouraged. Share memories, and enjoy snacks and entertainment.
Throughout February and March, Games Replay! will take place on a big screen in the Whistler Public Library. Find a cozy chair in the Library Lounge and relive the 2010 Games on the big screen. The Games Memories Photos will be on display in the library lounge. Take a walk down memory lane at this exhibit of select professional photographs.
The Olympic and Paralympic Medals created by Corinne Hunt and Omer Abel will be showcased at Municipal Hall reception, and Whistler Museum & Archives will have a special 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games exhibit, tracing the 50 year journey and six separate bids that culminated in the spectacular 2010 Games.
Fire & Ice shows on Sunday, February 16 and 23 and Sunday, March 15 will also pay tribute to the Games.
The 10th anniversary celebrations are made possible by the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) with support from Tourism Whistler, the Whistler Public Library and the Province of British Columbia’s Municipal and Regional District Tax (MRDT Hotel Tax.)

Come by the Library and enjoy this parent-directed hour. We will have games, materials for crafts, and a story corner with felt stories and puppets, all based around the theme of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and winter sports. This program is for families of all ages.
Cypress Point Winter Carnival: ART-LYMPICS

Location: 5678 Alta Lake Road
The 7th Annual Cypress Point Winter Carnival returns with a full afternoon of ART-LYMPICS themed activities, games, food, drinks and live entertainment. Afternoon activities and entertainment are free, with hot drinks and food available for purchase from the Cypress Point Café.
Fire & Ice

Every Sunday night during winter, see a spectacular display of ski and snowboard skills at the legendary Fire & Ice Show in Skier's Plaza. Whistler's best skiers and riders jump and flip through a blazing ring of fire accompanied by fire spinners, a DJ and fireworks display. An electrifying evening of free, live entertainment to enjoy with family and friends. There’s a chance to win 2010 Games Anniversary special prizing.

The exhibit, Building the Spirit: Whistler's Volunteers of the 2010 Games, will open at 7p.m. Friday, February 28 and feature stories and artefacts of volunteers and community members who participated in the 2010 Winter Games. Opening night will include a chance for everyone to record and share their own experiences of 2010 and the multi-year lead up, and we are encouraging everyone who attends the opening to bring/wear their Olympic gear. Opening night will be free admission.
