The RMOW is aware of water being delivered at higher than typical pressure to certain residential areas on the afternoon of October 29, 2019.
Attention residents of Tapley’s Farm, Whistler Cay Estates, Adventures West and Barnfield: If you recently experienced water damage as a result of your home’s pressure reducing valve (PRV) not functioning properly, please contact your home insurance agency.
As a reminder, each individual property owner is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of parcel-level water and sewer piping located within their property boundaries. This includes having a working PRV, as required by the BC Plumbing Code.
Municipal water pressure routinely varies due to a range of factors, from preventative maintenance to a water main break to a municipal emergency such as a fire. Water pressure changes can strain internal plumbing fixtures if your PRV is not functioning properly.
