In response to the Province of British Columbia’s extended Provincial Health Orders, the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) has made the following updates to its recreation programs:

The fitness centre at Meadow Park Sports Centre (MPSC) – including access to the weight room, cardio room and stretching rooms – is now open with pre-booking requirements for select activities.

For the duration of the current public health order, the following amenities will be available in a time slot booking format from 6 a.m. to 8:15 p.m., seven days a week:

  • 75-minute bookable timeslots for fitness centre use, including access to the weight room, cardio room and stretching rooms
  • Passholders can pre-book timeslots up to 72-hours in advance. Fitness centre reservations can be made online through your recreation account or over the phone, by calling 604-935-PLAY (7529) during business hours.

Drop-in access to the fitness centre will be on a first-come first-serve basis, space permitting, at the start of each time slot booking. Drop-in users are encouraged to check time slots online for availability prior to visiting Meadow Park Sports Centre.

Existing MPSC memberships have been extended for the duration of the closure. All passes will be active as of January 20.

Group fitness classes will resume, with reduced capacity, on Friday, January 21. Visit whistler.ca/fitness to view the latest class schedule.

There will be no changes to the reservation system currently in place for booking squash courts, included fitness classes and drop-in hockey sessions. Reservations will continue to be available to all users up to 72-hours in advance using the online booking system.

Reservations are not required to visit the pool or attend a public skating session. Please note, the pool and drop-in public skates are operating at 50 per cent capacity as per the updated Public Health Order.

Please come dressed for your session and only bring essential items. Changing facilities will have reduced capacity and limited storage options will be available for personal belongings.

Proof of vaccination and mask requirements remain in place for all visitors to Meadow Park Sports Centre with the exception of youth participating in youth sport. Enhanced cleaning protocols remain in place as part of the updated COVID-19 safety plan.

Provincial restrictions in effect until February 16

The revised provincial health officer order took effect on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 12:01 a.m.

Under this revised order, adult indoor individual and group fitness or exercise activities are allowed to resume operations with increased safety protocols and capacity limits, including:

  • 7 square metres of space between workout machines or people in a group class, up to a maximum of 25 people
  • Masks worn at all times, except when actively exercising
  • Pre-bookings for drop-in individual fitness where operationally possible

All other health orders announced last month, including closure of nightclubs/bars, and capacity limits on gatherings and events, have been extended to February 16, 2022.

The RMOW will continue to adjust programs and services as required to follow the recommendations of the Provincial Health Officer.
