Upcoming winter program registration and changes to swim, skate & fitness schedules

The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) is excited to resume drop-in access for all users to Meadow Park Sports Centre (MPSC).  Whistler’s Recreation department is gearing up for another busy winter season, offering a variety of fitness programs and activities to meet the needs of our community, starting with the return of outdoor skating at Whistler Olympic Plaza, upcoming winter program registration and changes to the MPSC swim, skate & fitness schedule.

MPSC allows drop-in access again, as of Monday, November 29. A reservation system will remain in place for select activities for the ease of planning and booking squash courts, included fitness classes, adult sport nights and drop-in hockey sessions. Reservations will continue to be available up to 72-hours in advance using the current online booking system. All Provincial Health Officer (PHO) orders remain in effect.

Access to MPSC has been limited to pass holders only since January 16, 2021, to support the implementation of appropriate health and safety precautions and COVID-19 protocols to keep staff, customers and the community safe as recreation services were reintroduced.

Whistler Olympic Plaza Ice Rink

Outdoor skating is now open for the season at Whistler Olympic Plaza. Skating admission is $2 if you bring your own skates. Skate rentals are $8 and includes the admission fee. Capacity will be limited on the ice. Spectators will not be permitted in the facility.

The rink is open seven days a week, weather permitting, from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and the ice is closed daily for maintenance from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. Strollers are welcome, and helmets and skate aids are available for free. Modified swim, skate & fitness schedules

Check before you play. As of Monday, November 29, there will be changes to the swim, skate & fitness schedule for the fitness centre and pool at MPSC. To accommodate a high school fitness program, the fitness centre at MPSC will be closed to the public on the following dates:

  • Mondays – 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. – Nov. 29, Dec. 6, Jan. 10 and Jan. 24
  • Wednesdays – 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. – Dec. 1, Dec. 8, Dec. 15 and Jan. 5

The pool continues to operate sessional swims, with select sessions closed to the public. Outside of these times, there will be at least 2 lap lanes available for length swimming from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Information regarding pool availability can be found on the swim, skate & fitness schedule.

Users are asked to check availability of pool, fitness centre and related facility closure notices before each visit at whistler.ca/notices.
