Lower level of Municipal Hall reopens on Monday, December 13

The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) is pleased to welcome the public back for in-person services on the lower level of municipal hall starting December 13.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, municipal hall was closed for in-person services for the safety of the public and staff.   While the municipal hall reception reopened in June, the building, planning and infrastructure services department continued with phone and email support.

In-person services for these departments will initially be 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, and will expand to municipal hall hours (8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday) starting January 4, 2022.

The RMOW closed municipal hall on March 16 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, staff have been managing core services, working remotely to reduce the risk of COVID-19 and developing plans to safely re-open our facilities. Following the release of the Province of British Columbia’s Restart plan, and with clear WorkSafeBC procedures, the RMOW is now able to expand and recommence in-person services.

For the safety of the public and staff, COVID-19 safety measures will mirror those in municipal hall’s reception area, including the requirement to wear a face mask, physically distance from others and the use of hand sanitizer upon entry of the building.  Please note that as per the Public Health Officer order, proof of COVID-19 vaccination is not required to access services at municipal hall.

Planning Department Reception Improvements

In September, construction improvements began on the reception area and office spaces within the Planning Department.   The improvements will better utilize the available space within the lower floor of municipal hall, providing for additional desk stations and improved, open collaborative space. Over the years the planning department has been renovated numerous times resulting in an inefficient layout and an inability for staff to actively engage with one another. The new format is open floor plan and will facilitate better collaboration and discussion amongst the entire team while maximizing the available space within municipal facilities.
