The Tapley’s section of the River of Golden Dreams is closed for the season, but the rest of the river remains open.
Please paddle to the first weir and carry your boat along the portage trail to the lower railway bridge (see map). The river is open downstream of the lower railway bridge because there is deeper water in this section. This closure is in place to protect Kokanee salmon spawning beds. Spawning takes place in late summer. The eggs then incubate in the gravel through the winter and fry emerge in the spring. Learn more about Kokanee Salmon.
