The Conservation Officer Service (COS) received reports of a bear accessing a total of 5 unlocked vehicles in the Alpine and Emerald Neighbourhoods. There were no attractants stored in any of the vehicles but reports indicate that one vehicle did sustain significant damage.
This bear was initially reported in the Rainbow Neighbourhood on November 25, 2020, after accessing 6 unlocked vehicles in a single night. During this event, the bear accessed food stored in one of the vehicles and is likely to continue this behaviour in search of additional food rewards.
Conservation Officers are urging all residents to be vigilant about locking vehicles and ensuring that there are no wildlife attractants stored inside.
Report bear sightings by phoning the BC Conservation Officer Service at 1-877-952-7277.
