Current status
The wildfire risk reduction work scheduled for 2022 will take place on two areas totalling approximately 14 hectares in a portion of Treatment Units 5B and 6.
Tree thinning commenced on July 12 in Treatment Unit (TU) 6 and will be completed in mid-August. After that, the crew will move to TU 5B until completion in autumn 2022.
Trail closures will be in effect during that time.

Do not go on closed trails. Active tree falling and heavy machinery use taking place creates a hazard for public use. Follow all signs and instructions from staff on site.
Partners
The work in 2022 is on two parcels of municipal land and the RMOW will continue with the current contractor who completed the Taluswood, High School and other projects. The RMOW is in contact with the Cheakamus Community Forest as the adjacent tenure holder, and will coordinate further with WORCA regarding the trails in the area.
