The Conservation Officer Service (COS) has received reports of a tagged bear accessing balconies and upper patios of homes to access Citronella candles in the Ambassador Crescent area of White Gold.
Citronella candles, garbage, recycling, pet and human food, bird feeders (including hummingbird feeders) and petroleum are all attractants for bears and must be secured. Do not leave any attractants around your home, even if this is not the ground level.
All attractants must be secured and inaccessible to wildlife. Attractants found to be accessible to wildlife will result in an on-the-spot fine.
Report sightings of bears around properties to the Conservation Officer Service at: 1-877-952-7277.
Residents are asked to report unsecured animal attractants to ByLaw Services by phone: 604 935 8280 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
