Defensive Sow with Cubs in Bayshores Area

Wildlife Alert – Defensive Black Bear sow with cubs in Bayshores.

The Conservation Officer Service (COS) has received reports of a defensive bear with two cubs of the year which has bluff charged members of the public, specifically dog walkers, in the Cheakamus Way to Kadenwood area of Bayshores.

By keeping dogs on leash and maintaining a distance of 100 meters (or 7 school busses) from bears at all times, we can keep our community members and bears safe.

Please report encounters with bears to the BC Conservation Officer Service (COS): 1-877-952-7277. Early reporting allows the COS to assess situations and help keep our community members safe from conflict with wildlife and our bears safe and wild.
