Whistler’s current regulations permit Class 1 e-bikes (or Motor Assisted Cycles) on Whistler roads and on the Valley Trail. The Motor Vehicle Act and ICBC require riders to be at least 16 years old and to wear a helmet.
Class 2 and 3 e-bikes are considered to be Motor Vehicles by ICBC and are not permitted on the Valley Trail or Whistler’s off road recreational trails.
ICBC has additional guidelines for other low-powered vehicles (e.g. mopeds, scooters, pocket bikes, motorized scooters and skateboards, and motorized wheelchairs).
Motorized wheelchairs are permitted on Whistler’s sidewalks and the Valley Trail.
Whistler’s updated guidelines and regulations, which are in development, will provide more clarity about where various types of e-mobility devices or e-bikes are permitted.
