Commercial Vehicle Permits

Application process

Applications for a Commercial Vehicle Permit may be submitted in person to Municipal Hall during regular business hours, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or by email to parking@whistler.ca

The following criteria must be met for a permit to be issued:

  • Proof of a valid commercial-use vehicle insurance policy that covers each vehicle
  • No outstanding parking tickets
  • $40 fee per decal (capped at 10 decals, additional decals are not charged)

Commercial Vehicle Permit options

The Resort Municipality of Whistler offers three types of Commercial Vehicle Permits:

  1. Small Commercial Vehicle permit for vehicles up to 20 feet in length
  2. Oversized Commercial Vehicle permit for vehicles over 20 feet in length
  3. Service Commercial Vehicle permit for vehicles up to 20 feet in length for contractors and trades related tasks. 
  • This decal allows a Commercial Vehicle under 20 feet in length to park in the designated “Undersized” Municipal loading zones on Main Street (and in Municipal loading zones elsewhere in Whistler) for up to 30 minutes; the operator of the vehicle must be actively engaged in the delivery or collection of goods
  • This decal does not allow a commercial vehicle to park in the Oversized Commercial Loading Zones on Main Street.
  • Commercial decals MUST be adhered and displayed on your windshield on the driver’s side bottom left.
  • A “Municipal Commercial Parking Decal” does not allow a commercial vehicle to park in Fire Lanes, No Parking Zones, No Stopping Zones or to interfere with the normal flow of traffic. 
  • In Whistler’s subdivisions, vehicles with a valid Whistler commercial parking decal are permitted to park on the even side of the street between November 1st-March 31st for up to 30 minutes; while actively engaged in providing delivery to a nearby property, on the condition that the vehicle is moved immediately at the request of a Bylaw Enforcement Officer or Snow Plow Driver.
  • This decal does not exempt you from paying for parking at Municipal parking meters.
  • This decal allows a Commercial Vehicle over 20 feet in length or height to park in “Oversize” Municipal loading zones on Main Street (and in Municipal loading zones elsewhere in Whistler) for up to 30 minutes; the operator of the vehicle must be actively engaged in the delivery or collection of goods.
  • Commercial decals MUST be adhered and displayed on your windshield on the driver’s side bottom left.
    • If it is not seen, you may be subject to receiving a citation even if you have a valid decal in the system. If the decals are not adhered to the windshield (and just on your dash) you also may be subject to receiving a citation.
  • A “Municipal Commercial Parking Decal” does not allow a commercial vehicle to park in Fire Lanes, No Parking Zones and No Stopping Zones or to interfere with the normal flow of traffic. 
  • In Whistler’s subdivisions, vehicles with a valid Whistler commercial parking decal are permitted to park on the even side of the street between November 1 to March 31 for up to 30 minutes; while actively engaged in providing delivery to a nearby property, on the condition that the vehicle is moved immediately at the request of a Bylaw Enforcement Officer or snowplow driver.
  • This decal does not exempt you from paying for parking at Municipal parking meters.

  • In Whistler’s subdivisions, vehicles with a valid Whistler service decal are permitted to park on the even side of the street between November 1 to March 31 for up to 30 minutes; while actively engaged in the collection or delivery of tools/materials from a job site at a nearby property, on the condition that the vehicle is moved immediately at the request of a Bylaw Enforcement Officer or Snow Plow Driver.
  • This decal allows a Service Vehicle to park in the designated “undersized” Municipal loading zones in various municipal commercial loading zones around Whistler (excluding those located on Main Street) for up to 30 minutes; the operator of the vehicle must be actively engaged in the collection or delivery of goods, wares, merchandise or tools/materials from a job site.
  • This decal does not allow the service vehicles to park in the Commercial Loading Zones on Main Street
  • If the owner or operator of a vehicle in this class wishes to park on Main Street, they will be required to park in the pay parking stalls and will not be permitted to park in the commercial loading zones. Parking on Main Street is free before 10 am.
  • Service decals MUST be adhered and displayed on your windshield on the driver’s side bottom left.
  • A “Municipal Commercial Parking Decal” does not allow a commercial vehicle to park in Fire Lanes, No Parking Zones, No Stopping Zones or to interfere with the normal flow of traffic. 
  • This decal does not exempt you from paying for parking at Municipal parking meters.
