Unique, seasonal street banners are displayed in Whistler each year.

The banners can be seen along streets in the Village, Meadow Park Sports Centre and Creekside. The municipality stages a competition each year to select an artist to create the design. Depending on the need, the design may have a summer or winter theme. Over the years the design styles and subjects have been diverse in reflecting some aspect of life in Whistler or in depicting Whistler landscapes. Photographers, artists and graphic designers from the region have won these competitions.

After two years of seasonal display the banner set is retired. With the artist’s consent, used banners are made available for sale or may be recycled as bags. For more background or the banner designs view the Whistler Banner Catalogue.
