Residents at addresses below need to boil their water before using it for drinking, cooking, washing food, or brushing their teeth due to a potential issue in the water system.

A boil water advisory is currently in effect for the following properties on Old Mill Road until further notice:

• 5524 Old Mill Road
• 5520 Old Mill Road
• 5516 Old Mill Road
• 5513 Old Mill Road
• 5521 Old Mill Road

Water can be made safe by bringing it to a rolling boil for at least two minutes before use. Boiled water should be stored in a clean container and refrigerated. Alternatively, you can use bottled water.

We are working closely with Vancouver Coastal Health to address the issue and have notified affected residents directly. We will let residents know when the boil water advisory has been lifted and the water is once again safe to drink. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.

General advice if you have consumed water with suspected bacterial contamination

Water with bacteriological contamination may cause gastrointestinal illness. Common symptoms may include fatigue, fever, nausea, diarrhea, and/or vomiting. Most cases of gastrointestinal illness in healthy individuals will be self-limiting and not require medical intervention, but it is possible that more serious illnesses could occur which require medical care or treatment. Some groups have a greater chance of severe illness and should seek medical care should symptoms appear: infants, older adults, pregnant, or immunocompromised.

See your health care provider as soon as possible if you are very sick and unable to manage your symptoms at home or have any the following symptoms of severe illness:

• High fever (over 40 degrees) or fever lasting longer that a few days
• Persistent vomiting that keeps you from keeping fluids down over 24hrs
• Blood in your vomit or diarrhea
• Severe, sharp or worsening abdominal pain
• Signs of dehydration, such as extreme thirst, dry mouth, little to no urination, or dizziness
• Symptoms that last longer than two to three days.
