Key election dates

• Candidate information session #1: June 29, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. (Whistler Public Library)
• Deadline to register to vote: August 18
• Candidate information session #2: August 26, 5:30pm to 7pm (Whistler Public Library)
• Nomination period opens: Tuesday, September 1
• Nomination period closes: Friday, September 11
• Advanced voting: Wednesday, October 7 and Saturday, October 10 (Whistler Public Library)
• Election day: Saturday, October 17 (Myrtle Philip Community School)

On October 17, eligible voters will vote for:

• 1 Mayor
• 6 Councillors
• 2 School Board Trustees

Who can vote

Resident electors

To vote in a local municipal election, you must be:

• 18 years of age or older on General Voting Day; 
•  a Canadian citizen; 
• a resident of B.C. for at least six months immediately before the day of registration; 
• a resident of the Resort Municipality of Whistler; and
• are not disqualified from voting by law.

Non-resident property electors

You are eligible to vote as a non-resident property elector if you are:

• 18 years of age or older on General Voting Day; 
• a Canadian citizen; 
• a resident of B.C. for at least six months before you register to vote; 
• the registered owner of real property in the Resort Municipality of Whistler for at least 30 days before you register to vote;
• are not disqualified from voting by law;
• if there is more than one owner of the property, only one person may vote as the non-resident property elector for the property. The owner entitled to vote must be designated, in writing, by the majority of the property owners;
• a person cannot vote on behalf of a property owned wholly, or in part, by a corporation or a trust.

Register to vote in the Whistler election

Registration as a Resident Elector is now closed. If you have not registered, then you can do so either when applying to vote by mail until October 13 or in person at either the Advance Voting Days on October 7 and 10 or on General Election Day on October 17.

Whistler’s future voter registration

One of the best ways young people can become lifelong voters is by voting in their first election. We know that young people are more likely to vote if they are already registered.

Anyone who is 16 or 17 years old, a resident of B.C., and a Canadian citizen can sign up so they are automatically registered to vote when they turn 18.
Once registered, they will receive important information from Elections BC about where, when and how to vote when an election is called.

Register to run for Mayor or Council

In order to run for Mayor or Council, prospective candidates must fill out the necessary nomination documents and submit them during the designated nomination period. The nomination period starts at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, and ends at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026. Nomination documents will be accepted by the Chief Election Officer or designate in person, by mail, or by courier at Whistler Municipal Hall: 4325 Blackcomb Way, Whistler, B.C., or by email to election@whistler.ca.

For anyone dropping off nomination documents in person at Municipal Hall, appointments must be arranged in advance by emailing election@whistler.ca. Attending Municipal Hall in person ensures the documents will be notarized free of charge. If nomination documents are sent via mail, courier or email, the prospective candidate will need to have them notarized on their own prior to sending at their own cost.

Register to run for School Trustee
