Financial incentives can help people take action on climate change.
Find out how you can cash in on energy rebates and incentives by shifting to lower-carbon homes, buildings and vehicles. Even small changes to homes and businesses can result in big cost savings and reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. Multiple options for financial support are available to help you make these changes. Financial incentives also provide a great opportunity to facilitate the switch to Electric Vehicles in our community.
Interested in switching to an electric vehicle? Technology improvements mean electric vehicles (EVs) are not as expensive as you think!
Electricity costs are only 15-25% of fuel costs, and maintenance costs are lower too. Over the lifecycle of the car, EVs can break even. And the cost of an EV with a range above 400 km is also becoming more affordable.
There are federal and provincial incentives for up to $14,000.
Personal transportation is Whistler’s biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions. In fact, emissions from private passenger vehicle trips within Whistler make up 57 per cent of Whistler’s carbon footprint.

Making the switch to an electric vehicle in Whistler just got easier!
The RMOW has partnered with the Province of British Columbia’s CleanBC Go Electric EV Charger Rebate Program to provide additional rebates for the purchase and installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at homes and workplaces.
Until December 31, 2022, the RMOW will top up the Province’s rebate contributions to further bring down the price of EV charging stations in Whistler.
This rebate is available for single family homes, multi-unit residential buildings and workplaces.
- Single family homes are eligible for up to $500 in rebates (up to $150 from the RMOW).
- Multi-unit residential buildings and workplaces are eligible for rebates up to $5,000 per charging station installation (up to $1000 from the RMOW).
There is no separate application for the RMOW top-up rebate. Simply apply for the CleanBC Go Electric EV Charger Rebate Program and if approved, the eligible RMOW top-up value will automatically be added to the Provincial Rebate.
Getting more people into electric vehicles will have a big impact to get Whistler on track to meet our emission targets.
