Pedal wheelchair rental

Whistler Mature Action Community (MAC) received a grant from the Real Estate Association of Whistler. These funds were used by MAC to purchase a “Pedal Wheelchair” to benefit Whistler residents with impaired mobility and poor balance from a number of conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, strokes, or those rehabilitating from injuries or surgery. The pedal wheelchair will be stored at MPSC and may be borrowed free of charge for periods of up to 3 hours, by seniors and younger adults, in accordance with procedures developed by MAC and MPSC.

  • Call MPSC Fitness Trainers Desk: 604-935-8363 to book the pedal wheelchair at least 24 hours in advance.  Please do not call or visit the MPSC front desk for bookings.
  • The pedal wheelchair will be brought to meet the user at time of booking. The user’s own wheelchair or mobility aids (if applicable) can be stored inside MPSC.
  • MPSC staff are not trained to assist with moving a user from one wheelchair to another. The buddy would need to assist the user with the transfer.
  • The user and buddy must sign the MAC waiver and leave a piece of ID and a credit card with the Trainer.
  • Helmets are strongly recommended for all participants.
  • At the booking end time, the trainer will meet the user and buddy back inside the building to exchange chairs (if applicable). The ID and credit card collateral will be returned.
  • MPSC requires firm booking start and end times; if the user and buddy return early, they will need to understand that the trainer may be with a client and not able to assist immediately.
