Register to vote
Resident electors can now register to vote in British Columbia with Elections BC.
Who can vote
Resident electors
To vote in a local municipal election, you must be:
- 18 years of age or older on General Voting Day;
- a Canadian citizen;
- a resident of B.C. for at least six months immediately before the day of registration;
- a resident of the Resort Municipality of Whistler; and
- are not disqualified from voting by law.
Non-resident property electors
You are eligible to vote as a non-resident property elector if you are:
- 18 years of age or older on General Voting Day;
- a Canadian citizen;
- a resident of B.C. for at least six months immediately before the day of registration;
- a registered owner of real property in the RMOW for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration (individuals who hold property in trust for a corporation or another trust are not eligible to vote);
- are not entitled to register as a resident elector;
- are not disqualified from voting by law; and
- if there is more than one registered owner of the property, only one of those individuals may, with the written consent of the majority of the owners, register as a non-resident property elector for that property.
