With the Whistler BMX Club no longer in operation, the RMOW will be taking over and reworking the existing track into a new Community Bike Skills Park for all abilities and ages. This project is meant to be a starting point with a more comprehensive park planning process to come in the future.
Scope of work
The existing BMX start mound and turn 1 will be left in place. A series of new dirt jumps and features of green, blue and black difficulty will be constructed by reusing and reshaping the existing material on site. A new dirt pump track will also be constructed adjacent to the dirt jump lines. All work is to be completed inside the existing perimeter fencing and footprint.
Whistler BMX
Whistler BMX officially folded in 2024. Whistler BMX is donating the proceeds from the sale of the start ramp, along with tools, equipment and storage facility to this project.
Whistler Rotary Club
The RMOW is working with the Whistler Rotary Club in developing a new Rotary Plaza. This could include picnic tables, benches, a bike repair station and storage kiosk where park users can gather, socialize, rest, and spectate.
BC Hydro
BC Hydro has generously contributed $7,500 through the BC Hydro’s Community ReGreening program. This will go towards in tree planting in and around the site.
Status
The majority of the new dirt jump work was completed in 2025.
Some signage and final work will take place spring 2026 when the ground is dry enough.
Work will continue for 2026 with the addition of an easy green line of features, and mobile skate park features for the remaining asphalt surface.
Funding
The Bayly Bike Skills Park is funded by the RMOW’s General Capital Reserve Funds.
