Whistler Fire Rescue Service (WFRS) strives to be a leader in the areas of education and prevention as well as emergency response and management. As first responders, crews attend fires, wildfires, highway crashes, accidents and injuries, and medical emergencies. Read more about WFRS, our fire halls, vehicles and team.

Paid-on-call firefighters 

Paid-on-call (POC) firefighters are community members who train weekly and assist the full-time fire department in responding to all kinds of emergencies. All training sessions and emergency callouts are paid.

Junior Firefighter Program 

Run annually, the Junior Firefighter Program gives high school students in Grade 11 and 12 the opportunity to take a three-day hands-on course on firefighting, gaining experience and insight into the physical, mental and educational requirements of a career in the fire services. 

The 2025 program is complete. Details about the 2026 program will be posted early next year.
