The Lamppost Banner Program provides artists with a unique opportunity to showcase their work in one of Whistler’s most visible public settings. By transforming everyday streetscapes into an open‑air gallery, the program supports creative expression while enhancing the visual experience for residents and visitors alike.

In the fall, Whistler’s streets were dressed in a new series of lamppost banners, featuring the vibrant work of digital illustrator Pam Staples.

Meet the Artist: Pam Staples

Pam Staples brings more than 20 years of experience as a digital illustrator, creating bold, vibrant works that celebrate outdoor living and the landscapes that shape our lives. Inspired by the places she has called home from the Kootenays to the 1000 Islands, and now the wide‑open prairies of Saskatchewan, Pam’s work reflects a deep connection to nature and the idea of belonging.

Her illustrations are known for their layered textures, playful compositions and striking use of colour. Drawing from her love of nature and storytelling through design, Pam creates digital posters and illustrative works that invite viewers to pause, connect and find joy in the everyday.

About the Banner Series: “Nature. Reflection. Belonging.”

Pam’s banner series captures the quiet beauty and deep sense of place that defines Whistler. Designed to reflect both the fall and winter seasons, the banners celebrate Whistler’s landscapes while evoking the feeling of coming home, whether you live here year‑round or return time and time again. “Each design is created to inspire a sense of belonging,” Pam shares. “For residents who call this place home, and for those who return seeking that same feeling.”

Keep an eye out for Pam Staples’ banners as you move through Whistler this season, and take a moment to enjoy how art, nature and community come together in the places we share.
