FACILITIES AND RECREATION 

40 Books for 40 Years  

Forty years ago, on August 27, 1986, Whistler Public Library opened its doors for the first time. The library team invites you to celebrate the 40th birthday with a reading challenge: 40 Books for 40 Years. Your challenge is to read 40 books this year – any genre, fiction or non-fiction, and physical books, e-books, and audiobooks are welcome. This challenge is designed to spark curiosity, encourage trying new genres, and reconnect with reading. Learn more

Extended hours at Whistler Public Library for teen study time 

Getting ready for exams? Need some extra quiet study time? The Whistler Public Library will stay open until 8 p.m. on weekdays from Monday, January 19, to Wednesday, January 28.  

Outdoor skating open daily at Whistler Olympic Plaza 

Join us in the heart of Whistler Village and glide into winter at the Whistler Olympic Plaza outdoor skating rink. Outdoor skating begins daily at 11 a.m. Visit our website for more info including operating and holiday hours. 

The Snow Zone is open 

The fun will grow as more snow is made at the Snow Zone at Whistler Olympic Plaza

LUNA Whistler January programming 

Join us at LUNA Whistler for yoga on Mondays and Laser Tag at the Library on Thursday, January 30. View the program lineup

Lost Lake Nordic Trails are open 

Enjoy cross-country skiing (classic and skate) and snowshoeing daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with night skiing on the Lost Lake Loop. Passes required. Check out trail conditions

2025 co-ed adult sports nights 

We have something for everyone, from basketball and soccer to volleyball, pickleball, and badminton. Register ahead of time, on your own or bring some friends for a fun night in a social atmosphere. View the schedule (PDF) and register now. 

EVENTS 

Whistler Pride Festival from January 25 to February 1 

A new chapter of winter Pride is here. Whistler Pride Festival is a weeklong celebration of belonging, inclusivity and the vibrant spirit of Whistler in winter. This refreshed festival builds on Whistler’s legacy with a mix of on-mountain adventure, high-energy après and inclusive events designed to connect and inspire.

New hourly parking rate for municipal parking lots and metered street parking is in effect

Fake QR codes found in parking lots 

Fraudulent QR codes imitating the official PayByPhone payment signs were discovered on pay parking terminals and signs in the Whistler Day Lots 1 through 5 (in the main Village Centre) and Main Street municipal parking areas, and the Marketplace private lot off Lorimer Road. Municipal parking in Whistler does not use QR codes for payment.Click the link to learn more.  

Water quality improvements for South Whistler now scheduled for Monday, February 9 

To meet Health Canada’s updated guidelines and help protect your pipes, fittings and fixtures, we will be adjusting the pH levels in South Whistler’s water system. If you’re a business that relies on water, now’s the time to prepare for the pH change. Click the link for more information. 

GETTING AROUND  

Reduced parking and no access to EV chargers at the Conference Centre surface parking from Monday, February 2 

The Conference Centre surface parking will have fewer parking spaces and no EV chargers available from February 2 to mid-March while we upgrade the EV chargers to fast chargers. The lower lot EV fast chargers will also be removed during this upgrade.

Winter parking regulations in effect 

Whistler’s winter parking regulations are in effectfrom November 1 to March 31 to help keep roads and parking lots cleared:  

  • No even side parking Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (excluding holidays).  
  • No odd side parking any time during the year.  
  • No overnight parking in the day lots or any other surface level lots in the winter to allow for snow clearing. 

CONSTRUCTION 

RCMP renovation underway 

Please expect reduced parking at Municipal Hall, and increased construction activity, noise and traffic throughout this period. Construction is scheduled until April 2026.
