Creek Woman represents a figure from the artist’s Haida culture—a noble woman from legends of Earth’s creation. She resides by water and presides over fish. In the summer of 2005 this sculpture was carved in Whistler at Rebagliati Park.
As the artist is from Haida Gwaii, he contacted the area’s Lil’wat Nation to involve an elder in a blessing ceremony early in the carving process.
