At the south end of Alta Lake, the Station House is one of Whistler’s original rustic buildings — a peaceful setting ideal for meaningful, community-centered gatherings. This unique facility offers a quiet, reflective atmosphere perfect for daytime use. 

Location

The Alta Lake Station House is located at 5560 Old Mill Lane. Access is available by foot or bike on the valley trail, a short walk either from Alta Lake Rd. or Wayside Park. Limited vehicle access available for load-in and load-out only.

• Uncovered deck area overlooking Alta Lake 

• Basic kitchen facilities – suitable for prep, reheating and service only 

• 1 bathroom 

The Station House is available for a variety of low-impact, daytime events and gatherings, including: 

• Wellness Activities: Yoga, tai chi, meditation, and breathwork sessions 

• Educational & Community Programs: Cultural talks, classes, lectures, and skill-sharing events 

• Corporate/Organizational Use: Staff retreats, team-building meetings, planning sessions, and trainings 

• Small Community Events: Seniors’ groups, cultural exchanges, and inclusive community initiatives 

• Arts & Culture: Theatre and art workshops 

Please note

To preserve the peaceful character of the Station House and its surroundings, the space is not available for: 

• Private Parties: Wedding receptions, birthdays, reunions, or similar celebrations 

• Evening or Late-Night Events: All events must conclude by 8:00 PM 

• Alcohol-Focused Gatherings: Such as tastings, cocktail parties, or events where alcohol is the main activity 

• Loud or Disruptive Activities: Including amplified music, DJ sets, dance parties, or concerts 

• High-Impact Physical Activities: Fitness bootcamps, sports practices, or any activity that may cause damage to the property 

Whether you’re hosting a mindfulness retreat, a community art exhibit, or a collaborative learning session, the Station House offers a calm and inspiring venue rooted in Whistler’s cultural heritage. 

Rental information

The Alta Lake Station House is available for bookings from May through October.  The building is closed through the winter season.  

• Indoor capacity: 65 standing, 50 seated or 6 tables 

• Deck dimensions:  roughly 16 x 28 ft 

• (60) white folding chairs, and (8) 6 ft tables are available for use onsite
