Please obey the posted rules and guidelines throughout Meadow Park Sports Centre, they are for your own safety and enjoyment, and the safety and enjoyment of others. 

General guidelines 

  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Practice good hand hygiene. 
  • Respect personal space; consider other people’s situations and different comfort levels. 
  • Follow all guidelines and abide by the posted Code of Conduct. 

Code of Conduct 

For the safety and enjoyment of all:

  • Create a positive environment.
  • Be respectful and courteous.
  • Value diversity.
  • Yes to participation, no to racism or discrimination.
  • Never threaten or injure others.
  • Do not use alcohol or drugs on Meadow Park grounds.
  • Do not use offensive language.
  • Do not steal, damage or vandalize property.
  • Do not create dangerous situations, such as leaving personal items in hallways, using weights without locking collars, lifting free weights without a spotter, jumping into the pool where others are swimming or running on the pool deck.

Hear it? See it? Report witnessed misconduct to any recreation staff.

Failure to follow the code of conduct may result in suspension from the facility.

Swimming pool rules

  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Practice good hand hygiene.
  • Respect personal space; consider other people’s situations and different comfort levels.
  • Follow all guidelines and abide by the posted Code of Conduct.
  • All patrons must shower before entering the pool area.
  • Life jackets are available upon request.
  • Pool-specific supervision policy: Children under 7 years of age must be within arm’s reach of an adult (16 years+) who is also in the water wearing swimwear, to a maximum ratio of one adult to three children. Accompanying adults must pay admission.  
  • Facility-wide supervision policy: Children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult (ages 16+) whilst in our facility. View the full facility supervision policy.
  • Guests with accessibility considerations are asked to contact MPSC Front Desk so we can accommodate your needs in an effective and safe manner.

Fitness centre guidelines and rules 

  • It is recommended that you consult with a physician before participating in an exercise program. 
  • Participants exercise at their own risk.
  • We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. 
  • Wear appropriate exercise attire (including top and bottoms).
  • Avoid scented products, we are a scent-free facility. 
  • No phone calls or speaker phones (turn off ringers).  
  • Fitness centre users and fitness class participants must be 16 years of age or older. Youth aged 13 to 15 can gain access to the fitness centre upon completion of the Youth on Weights program. Call 604-935-8363 or visit the front desk to register for the Youth on Weights program.
  • Clean and dry closed-toed, indoor athletic shoes must be worn in the fitness centre and during fitness classes at all times. 
  • Change your shoes in the downstairs squash lobby; not upstairs. Your outdoor shoes can be stored in lockers or upstairs cubby holes along with jackets, backpacks and other belongings. 
  • Bottles of sanitizer and rags are located throughout each room to thoroughly wipe down equipment both before and after use.
  • Check Meadow Park Sports Centre notices prior to arrival for operational changes or closures. 

Weight room rules 

  • If unfamiliar with equipment, ask staff for assistance. 
  • Book free Fitness Centre orientations and fee-based personal training at the fitness desk upstairs. 
  • Return weights and other equipment to its appropriate place. 
  • No uncontrolled and repetitive weight dropping. See staff for use of the Olympic platform. 
  • Allow others to “work in” between sets. No loitering on equipment. 
  • Infants must be secured in a carrying basket/car seat and always be within arm’s reach of a parent. 
  • External personal trainers must register with the Fitness Programmer.

Cardio room rules 

  • Sign up for one machine only at a time. 
  • Write your start and finish time on the sign-up board. 
  • 30 minutes maximum time allowed. 
  • Advance reservations are not available.  
  • Wipe down equipment after use. 
  • Wipe sweat off the floor with rags provided. 

Stretching room rules 

  • Outside equipment is not permitted.
  • Not for use by groups or personal trainers. 
  • Shoes or socks must be worn.

Boxing studio rules 

  • Participants must do a one-time free orientation with a trainer before being allowed access. 
  • Participants assume all risks associated with the use of this facility. 
  • For use during scheduled drop-in times only, consult front desk staff. 
  • No sparring: this is a non-contact facility. 
  • Store all bags and coats in change room lockers. 
  • Bare feet allowed for martial arts only, otherwise clean and dry footwear is required. 
  • Wraps and/or gloves must be worn while using the speed and heavy bags. 
  • Minimum age of 16 years. 
  • Youth ages 13 to 15 must complete the Youth on Weights program before use. 
  • Return all equipment to its appropriate place. 
  • Share the equipment — allow others to “work in” between sets. 
  • Spray and wipe the equipment after use with a bottle and cloth provided.
