Whistler resident status confirmation

We value all our customers in Whistler equally.

This season we are confirming where our customers live as part of mandated pay schedules. Our recreation department prioritizes swimming lessons for Whistler’s taxpayers and charges non-residents an additional access fee for our upkeep. This fee is used for maintenance and investment to keep recreation in our town as safe and affordable as possible for all customers, residents and non-residents.

Whistler resident confirmation process:

  • Those who register for Winter 2026 swimming lessons are asked to confirm Whistler residency before Tuesday, January 6.
  • Confirmed accounts will be updated in the system as residents.
  • Unconfirmed accounts will be charged the difference between resident and non-resident rates for the Winter 2026 lesson set and updated in the system as non-residents.
  • Those with addresses in Black Tusk Village, Pinecrest and Wedgewoods are classified as non-residents at this time since they pay their property taxes to the Squamish Lillooet Regional District.

Confirmation documents:

Whistler residency can be confirmed at Meadow Park Sports Centre in person. We cannot accept documentation by e-mail and will perform a visual check in person due to privacy.

Acceptable proof of residency must include your full name and Whistler address. Please provide one document from each section:

Section 1 – Photo ID with Address:

  • BC Driver’s License
  • BC Identification

Section 2 – Proof of Residency:

  • Current Property Tax Notice
  • Current Lease Agreement
  • Most Recent BC Hydro or Phone Bill

Thank you for confirming your address and contributing to the upkeep of our services.

Helpful tips for registration

  • Visit program pages and MyRecreation and take note of key registration dates
  • Ensure you have an updated MyRecreation account. If the program offers early registration or lower fees to residents, ensure that you have confirmed your residency status at Meadow Park Sports Centre.
  • If you do not have an account, set one up at Meadow Park Sports Centre in person or by phone.
  • If you’re signing up for swimming, ensure you know your child’s swim lesson level before registering. Free assessments are also available.
  • If registering online, please ensure your payment option is valid

Creating or updating your recreation account

To set up a new account, contact Meadow Park Sports Centre at 604-935-PLAY (7529) during operating hours. Once you have set up a new account, ensure all family members have been added and that your details are correct. If you are a resident you will need to confirm your residency status (see below).

If you have an account, please ensure your login and password work before registering for programs at MyRecreation.

Resident and non-resident accounts

Resident accounts are available for customers who live in Whistler. You will need to verify your residency status at Meadow Park Sports Centre by providing proof of residency in the form of a valid driver’s licence, a recent utility bill with your name and current address, or via the tax roll. If you have not verified, your account will default to “non-resident.”

Non-resident accounts will allow you to join registered classes and programs but will have different registration opening dates and extra fees may apply. Non-resident recreational fees for certain programs including swimming lessons, skating programs and fitness programs, include a surcharge rate of 33 per cent.

Drop-in rates, passes, licensed childcare programs, personal training programs and Registration Service Agreement programs are the same price for residents and non-residents.

Payment options

  • Full payment is due at the time of registration. Cash, MasterCard, Visa, American Express or debit card are accepted for payment. Payment plans are available for after school care days of the Kids on the Go program.
  • Registrations by phone must be paid in full by credit card.
  • Account credits– can be used for online registration or while registering by phone at Meadow Park Sports Centre or Myrtle Philip Community School.

Cancellations and refunds

  • For Kids on the Go and summer camp registrations a full calendar months’ notice is required for cancellations to give us time to inform families on the waitlist (i.e. for any October cancellations you need to inform us in writing at kotg@whistler.ca by August 31). The summer camp 25 per cent deposit isn’t refundable. For Kids on the Go, a $5 per day withdrawal fee is applied to all cancellations. Trading, switching or swapping days isn’t permitted. For more information please email kotg@whistler.ca or call 604-935-8370.
  • A minimum number of participants are required to recover costs for recreation programs, and programs can be cancelled if people wait until the last minute to register. Avoid disappointment – register early.
  • Programs with insufficient registration will be cancelled up to seven days prior to the start date, and the RMOW will issue a full refund.
  • If an individual cancels from a program seven days or more prior to the start of a program, a full refund, minus a $25 administration fee, will be provided (this does not apply to Kids on the Go or summer camp registrations). No refunds will be issued after this period. In medical cases, refunds are pro-rated and a doctor’s note is required.Registration Service Agreements

The Resort Municipality of Whistler has partnered with various organizations that provide quality specialty programs that we cannot offer ourselves. These organizations are responsible for the delivery of the program and can be recognized in the program descriptions by their organizational logo or “RSA” beside the program name.

If you have any questions about establishing a Registration Service Agreement with the RMOW, please contact the Program Services Supervisor at 604-935-8368.
