Creating more housing for people to live and work in Whistler is a priority in our 2023 to 2026 Strategic Plan and housing our workforce is expressly addressed in our Official Community Plan. Our Housing Action Plan identifies how we can help deliver housing to benefit our community and local economy.
Ensuring adequate housing for the Whistler community isn’t a problem we can solve alone. We work with our subsidiaries, the Whistler Housing Authority and Whistler 2020 Development Corporation, and partner with businesses and developers in Whistler. Federal and provincial policy and funding is also important to our progress.
Six areas for housing action
- Monitor housing supply and identify needs
- Protect and optimize employee housing
- Leverage municipal lands
- Use and expand financial tools
- Encourage the private sector to build housing
- Remove red tape barriers
