Cemetery plots may be reserved prior to a burial. Plots can be reserved as far in advance as needed.
Pre-arrangement of burial services ensures that your personal wishes are known and followed by your survivors.
Reserve a Plot
Visit the cemetery with a set of plot plans to choose the plot you wish to reserve. Current Plot Plans are available from the Cemetery Administrator at Municipal Hall or in person at the front desk at Municipal Hall.
The plot plans indicate which plots are available and where they are located. Each plot may hold the remains of one person.
When you have chosen the plot that you wish to reserve, arrange an appointment with the Cemetery Administrator to pay the applicable fees and obtain a cemetery license.
Interments for full burials may be scheduled Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Memorial markers can be placed on grave spaces once a cemetery licence has been obtained by the caretaker. Memorial markers must conform to the cemetery bylaw.
All memorial markers must be installed by the Cemetery Caretaker and take into consideration the following:
- A marker's top surface must be flush with the surface of the surrounding ground and be made of stone or bronze.
- Adult burial plot markers must measure 12” high x 20” wide x 3” thick.
- Infant burial plot markers must measure 10” high x 18” wide x 3” thick.
- Where two related person are buried side by side, one marker can be used for the memorialization of both people. The single marker should be set to embrace the two grave spaces evenly and measure 18” high x 30” wide by 3” thick.
The Resort Municipality of Whistler reserves the right to reject any memorial marker that does not keep with the dignity of the cemetery. Grave spaces cannot be defined by a fence, hedge or railing unless otherwise approved.
