Daily Fire Danger Rating

Whistler’s current fire danger rating is updated daily by BC Wildfire Service’s Coastal Fire Centre. NO fires are allowed in Whistler when the fire danger rating is HIGH or EXTREME.

Construction activities

To prevent the risk of fires in Whistler, some construction activities are restricted when the Fire Danger Rating is High or Extreme. 

Campfires in Whistler

permit is required for all campfires within the Resort Municipality of Whistler. When the Fire Danger Rating is High or Extreme, no campfires are permitted in Whistler.

A CSA-rated or ULC-rated portable campfire apparatus that uses propane fuel is allowed in Whistler, so long as the height of the flame is less than 15 centimeters and it is used in accordance with the manufacturer recommendations.

Barbecues in parks

When the Fire Danger Rating is High or Extreme, only CSA -rated or ULC-rated propane barbecues are allowed in Whistler parks. 

Residents and visitors are reminded to be very cautious and watchful and report all fires in Whistler immediately by dialing 9-1-1.
