Whistler is home to both black bears and grizzly bears, and it's often difficult to tell them apart. Black bears are more likely to become habituated and act comfortably around humans, so you may see them in yards and parks around Whistler.

Black bears can range in colour from black, blue-black, dark brown, brown and cinnamon to even white. Grizzlies, likewise, can range in colour from black to blonde.
