Application Process
Applications for a Commercial Vehicle Permit may be submitted in person to Municipal Hall during regular business hours, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The following criteria must be met for a permit to be issued:
- Valid Whistler Business licence
- Business vehicle insurance
- No outstanding parking tickets
- $30 processing fee
- Commercial Decal Application
Commercial Vehicle Permit Options
The Resort Municipality of Whistler offers three types of Commercial Vehicle Permits:
- Small Commercial Vehicle permit for vehicles up to 20 feet in length
- Oversized Commercial Vehicle permit for vehicles over 20 feet in length
- Service Commercial Vehicle permit for vehicles up to 20 feet in length for contractors and trades related tasks.
Only vehicles that are used for the collection or delivery of goods are eligible for Small or Oversized Commercial Vehicle permits. Vehicles used for administrative or sales-related tasks are not eligible for any Commerical Vehicle Permit.
1. Small Commercial Vehicles
Small commercial vehicles under 20 feet long with a valid Commercial Vehicle Decal can:
- Stop in Small Commercial Vehicle Loading Zones for up to 30 minutes to load or unload materials.
- Use a municipal metered parking space without paying on any day up to 10:00 a.m.
Vehicles in this category are not eligible to utilize the Commercial Oversize Loading Zones.
2. Oversize Commercial Vehicles
Oversize commercial vehicles over 20 feet long with a valid Oversize Commerical Decal can:
- Stop in Commercial Oversize Loading Zones for up to 30 minutes to load or unload materials.
3. Service Commercial Vehicles
Service commercial vehicles up to 20 feet in length for contractors and trades related tasks can:
- Stop in Small Commercial Vehicle Loading Zones for up to 30 minutes.
- Use a municipal metered parking space without paying on any day up to 10:00 a.m.
Vehicles in this category are not eligible to utilize the Commercial Oversize Loading Zones or Commercial Loading Zones on Main Street.
Other Parking Options
If you are ineligible for a Commercial Vehicle Permit, consider purchasing a Smart Park in-vehicle parking meter to conveniently pay for parking. Simply set the SmartPark when you park your car and switch it off when you return. You only pay for the time you park.
