Municipal parking tickets and bylaw notices

Most tickets issued in Whistler are for municipal bylaws violations related to parking, animal control, noise, smoking and nuisance. There are also bylaw violations that relate to land use, development and construction that would result in a bylaw notice.

Municipal parking tickets and bylaw notices can be paid online, mailed to Municipal Hall, or paid in person at Municipal Hall during regular business hours. Cash, cheque, credit card and debit are accepted.  Be sure to have your ticket number available when making a payment.

Disputing a municipal ticket

The Resort Municipality of Whistler uses the Bylaw Adjudication System, which allows the Municipality and public to resolve minor bylaw disputes at the local level rather than through the Provincial Court system. This process saves time and money for both the municipality and the disputants.

With the Bylaw Adjudication System, disputes are reviewed by adjudicators assigned by the Ministry of Attorney General’s Tribunal Transformation Supports Office of the Justice Services Branch. The Adjudication Hearings are held at Whistler Municipal Hall, disputants can attend in person, virtually, in writing and over the phone.

All tickets must be disputed 14 days from the date of issue (issuance). Disputes must be completed in writing and can be mailed, emailed or delivered to Municipal Hall. After the Province gets the municipal ticket, you’ll be mailed a notice from the Provincial Court Registry. The notice will tell you the time and location for your hearing.

Provincial tickets

Provincial tickets are mostly issued in Whistler for violations related for traffic and speeding. These tickets can be paid at any ICBC location or at Westland Insurance in Marketplace.
