Wayfinder

Within the forested Village Park Centre, the water channel that links the park system is piped to reduce the footprint of the stream and retain the stand of trees. At Northlands Boulevard, or the west side of this park, the water flows into a pond.

Artist Dwight Atkinson won the competition for the Wayfinder sculpture with his proposal for a landmark, that points to Blackcomb Mountain and provides at the base a map to destinations or other landmarks around the Whistler valley. The artist is known for the humour that is often shown in his art. In this case, the landmark is like a rod with lure over the pond.
