Whistler is at high risk of wildfires.
In order to prevent wildfires and to reduce the severity of fires, we work to improve education, resources, training, response and planning.
Programs include:
Fuel thinning
Fuel thinning is completed in area forests in cooperation with the province and Crown corporations.
FireSmart
Whistler FireSmart is working with properties, businesses, neighbourhoods and homeowners to reduce the fire risk on private properties through assessments, the woodchipper program, and neighbourhood work days.
