On shared unceded L̓il̓wat7úl and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh territory

Shared on behalf of the Conservation Officer Service (COS).

The COS received reports last night of people being bluff charged by a sow with three cubs (yearlings). The COS was also made aware of people approaching bears and stopping vehicles on highway 99 in an attempt to capture photos.

The Conservation Officers attended and removed the vehicles and people from the area. The trail was temporarily closed for wildlife and public safety reasons.

Please report any observed human-wildlife conflict to the Report All Poachers and Polluters (RAPP) line: 1877 952 7277.

It is important to both human and bear safety that we:

-Give wildlife space; never approach a bear.

-Keep dogs on a leash.

-Make noise when traveling on trails to alert bears that you are in the area.
