Parking in Whistler
Whistler is pedestrian-friendly, has a robust transit system, and Whistler’s neighbourhoods, schools, and parks are connected by the 35-kilometre long paved multi-use Valley Trail. For those who drive, there are several parking options within Whistler Village and the surrounding neighbourhoods.
There are a range of parking choices and rates available in Whistler. Currently, the supply of parking stalls in Whistler is available as follows:

Why a User-Pay System?
User-pay parking has been part of Whistler fiscal, transportation and sustainability plans for decades. In 2008, Municipal Council endorsed the “Whistler Village Day Skier Parking Lot Facility Operating Agreement” (Operating Agreement). This agreement was the fulfillment of a requirement for the Day Skier Lots transfer from the Province of BC to the RMOW. User pay parking was implemented in Day Lots 1, 2, and 3 in June 2010.
Implementing user pay parking in the Day Lots, while providing discounted monthly pass options, supports the following goals of:
- Changing behaviour by promoting shifts to other modes of transportation (e.g. transit, cycling, walking on the Valley Trail, and bus/ shuttle services). Transit is consistently identified by the community as one of its most essential municipally-funded initiatives.
- Improving the visitor experience – Upgrades to the Day Lots ahve included paving, the installation of stairs and improved lighting, and options for premium spaces for visitors.
- Being fiscally responsible – Revenue from the Day Lots is used to fund parking infrastructure, maintenance, and snow removal, rather than having taxpayers subsidizing costs. There is no “free” parking.

Smart Park Meters
For on-street municipal parking, the Smart Park meter offers savings for hourly parking , and is an affordable and convenient option to allow residents, frequent visitors, and weekenders to park at municipally-operated lots in the Village. Learn more about Smart Park.

In the Day Lots, the PaybyPhone option is available for these convenient reasons:
- No need for cash or coins

- Extend your parking time from any phone

Municipal Hall
Monthly passes for municipal lots can also be purchased at Municipal Hall, 4325 Blackcomb Way during office hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
Privately-run parking options
Marketplace businesses provide and maintain 2-hour parking at no charge for their customers.
In addition, no charge guest (day skier, mountain visitors) parking is available in Day Lots 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and the Creekside Parkade, which are managed by Whistler Blackcomb.
Whistler Village was built with underground parking for patrons, with more than 1,200 privately-owned parking stalls. Most hotels offer user pay parking for registered guests and visitors and a number of these lots offer daily and monthly rates. Many businesses provide parking for their staff and customers in designated spots in these stalls. Overheight underground parking is available under Whistler Town Plaza access off of Blackcomb Way and by the Library.
Parking in Whistler subdivisions
Parking is not permitted on the odd side of the street at any time, year-round, in Whistler subdivisions. Parking is permitted on the even side unless signed otherwise.
Winter parking regulations are in effect November 1 through March 31. To make it easier for snowplows to get through subdivisions, parking on the even side of the street is prohibited Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Illegally parked vehicles will be ticketed and towed. The municipality does not govern or maintain strata/condo parking lots, private roads and driveways. Obey the signs.
